" This gem of a site never dissapoints. We have been coming to this site for about 10 years. It is the one we always long to get back to for it's beautiful setting and the peace and tranquility. Ian and Annette do a wonderful job of maintaining the site with it's level and well spaced pitches, while allowing some areas of the field to stay artfully unmown to attract the wonderful wildlife. Just a stones throw from the M6, although you can't hear it from the site, the entrance is large enough for our 110 Defender and twin axel caravan. There is recycling on site which is all well organised, and the toilet is always clean. The pitch fee at the time of review allows you 12kWh of electric each day and anything extra you use you pay for at the end of your stay. You just take a note of the meter reading on the hook up post on arrival and at the end of your stay. We are nearing the end of our week (in August) and have not gone over this, and I think this is the fairest sytem for all. This lovely site gives you the quiet relaxation needed after everyday life, but you are a stones throw from Penrith for shopping and on the top edge of the gorgeous Lakes with all the leisure and tourist activities you could want. Highly recommended, although don't tell everyone or we may never be able to get a pitch!  "

" I stayed at Town End Cottage CL this past Friday while travelling North and had a truly wonderful experience. The site is beautifully maintained and set in a peaceful, picturesque location – ideal for anyone looking to relax and enjoy the countryside. The pitches were spacious, level, and well-kept, with all the essentials you’d expect from a quality CL site. The surroundings were tranquil, with lovely views and plenty of space to unwind. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into running the site, and the hosts were friendly, welcoming, and helpful without being intrusive. Access was straightforward, and the site was easy to find. It also makes a great base for exploring the local area, with some scenic walks and charming villages nearby. "This is a lovely site...quiet with a beautiful meadow. The part of the site for caravans is much larger than your average CL, is well maintained and the owners are extremely welcoming. Access to the lakes and places of interest is excellent. Have visited several times a year for the last twenty-two years and intend to keep returning for many years to come." CAMC Website

"Came across this CL as we were needing access to North Lakes for a change. We had recently been to Penrith which is a vibrant town with all you will need and more. The site is really well signposted and gives you lots of choices as where to pitch,{bring 2 power lines to increase your choices}. " We have just had a wonderful 6 night stay at Town End Cottage. Set in a wonderful wildlife meadow we had such a peaceful stay.A credit to the owner Ian. £20 a night with 12kwh of power per day was exceptional value. We didn't need to pay extra as we were well below the KW hours per day. Only 4 miles away from Penrith and within 2 miles from the M6 the site was easily accessible. We will be back. " July 2025
